There is alot of info here and some require purchasing a subscription. Generally, we would suggest that you require any web design/layout professional to know these techniques. The graphic artist will generally not know nor care to. The web design/layout pro will get the graphics from the graphic artist and then design/layout the pages according to client requirements and in conjunction with online marketing techniques and strategies.
Nothing to be scared about. Most websites never even take advantage of search engine marketing to its fullest ability. So, more than likely you are already ahead of the game! Be patient, it takes time to produce successful results.
In addition to search engine marketing are the tried and true means of advertising which include referral (links) marketing, viral marketing (getting other similar industry websites to promote your products/services and you do the same for them), online associations/journals, online bulletin boards, and much more. The important part is to plan, plan, plan and then systematically execute!
